Each person in the class was presented with a real cupcake to draw using pastels. It was a competition to see who could draw the best and most realistic cupcake, in order to win another 'personalised' cupcake.
The size of the work is A1, and was done using chalk pastels and charcoal. We used chalk pastels because it captured the texture of the icing in particular, as it was light and creamy. The charcoal was used to emphasise the tone on the cherry and the dramatic shadow that is formed from the cake on the surface of the table. |
