Photo Description:
Acrylic on canvas 25cm x 30cm Part 3 of Aviary triptych This piece explores the ominous nature of mortality. A regal swallow beams in the solemnity of acceptance, an ultimate and inevitable realisation all life makes in the end. Its royal blue colours and textured downy breast are placed in the threat of the thorns beneath. The symbolism depicts fortitude in adversity, hence the placement of halo-like highlights in the deep black- an allusion to the crucifixion.
