Photo Description:
Influenced by Martin Kippenberger, "Self Defeatist" amalgamates the ideas of altered desires; the juvenile ideals of becoming a track star - illustrated by the althletics vest - and my desires tainted by family and societal influence - portrayed by the medical stethoscope around my neck. In that way, the hand dominating the centre of the illustration becomes the metaphysical barrier between these two desires, yet is not our main focus, as we are drawn into the anguished figure to the left of the image.
