The Canopy

152 x 102cm Oil and gloss on canvas. Dense over brushwork creates a collision in perspective within this painting. However, the eyes gaze uses this mark making as a guide throughout the composition. The Landscape encapsulates the viewer within an English pine forest, a common setting that can be found all over the world. The painting questions our understanding of this natural environment through an abstraction of colour and shape.
