The delicate lace through the centre of the piece represents the fragility or a sufferer of bipolar. The outer layer of glue represents the barrier of the illness surrounding them, keeping them trapped in a constant state of inner turmoil, with metal shavings intertwined to show the sharp outbursts associated with the disorder. My mother suffers from this illness which is where I got my inspiration from as i have been able to obseve a sufferer on a personal level, sharing their experiences and pain. I see her as a delicate being, trapped in something that can be aided by medical support and drugs, however will always remain an inevitable conciquence. |
