A Comfortable Nightmare

A Comfortable Nightmare
Photo Description:
For some people reading is something they do in a comfortable place such as curled in bed, propped up on some pillows. I am one those people. While I was reading “The Lord of the Flies” I needed a little of that comfort. It is a very disturbing book. I combined, comfort and terror, in my piece A Comfortable Nightmare. Terror is represented by the use of the actual pages of the book “The Lord of the Flies”. It’s my way of showing that some things we keep close to us are not as trustworthy as we might think. To create this piece I first formed three pieces of chicken wire into three different kinds of pillows. I then used spray glue to attach the first layer of pages. Subsequently, I used white glue to adhere the next four layers, strategically placing the last layer of pages.
