Two photographs of an installation of 80 boxes hung onto the wall. The boxes explore the development of depression caused by any facial condition (wrinkles, acne...). I wanted to convey how these conditions impact on the sufferer mentally rather than physically, and how the person will often act the same, but feel somewhat alienated. The piece also suggests how modern day culture, means that paranoia and sadness created by our perception of beauty, can soon escalate into mental illness and psychological breakdown. |
