The Academy opened in September 2003. The student enrolment is 1159 with approximately 250 students in the Sixth Form. The School is one of a number of City Academies established in England and is sponsored by The Mercers' Company of the City of London and Thomas Telford School, Telford, Shropshire.
The art department encourages students to explore their ideas and creativity using a range of media, processes and experiences.
