Photo Description:
oil on canvas During the creation of this painting I was being heavily influenced by Rene Magritte's large objects in a room. I decided I wanted to go down a similar route and create a space e.g. an ally and fill the space with an unrealistically large object. However, I did not want to go down the same route at Magritte in the way that his large objects were everyday objects, I wanted to create something darker and more sinister. Something that would give a small child nightmares. So I decided to paint my friends head decapitated and hung from a piece of string in the middle of this ally. However, I was not satisfied with that. As I had recently seen the new batman film I had been inspired by the joker and decided to paint the face to resemble the joker in the form of my friend decapitated head.
