The winners of the 2011 Saatchi Gallery / Sunday Telegraph Art Prize for Schools, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, were announced at a prize-giving ceremony at the Saatchi Gallery in London on 17 January 2012.
The first prize was awarded to Julia Whiting, aged 18, a pupil at St. Margaret's School, Exeter. She received £2,000 and her school's art department was awarded £10,000 to spend on art and computer equipment.
The two runners-up are James Wallis, aged 12, from Woodcote House School, Surrey and Mu-Chun Chiang, aged 18, from The Leys, Cambridge.
Each runner-up was given £1,000, and their schools received £5,000 each.
The Saatchi Gallery / Sunday Telegraph Art Prize for Schools is open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world who are invited to submit art work by students up to the age of 18. Over 12,000 entries were submitted this year. Among the 20 shortlisted works were entries from Germany and the US, as well as the UK.
The panel of judges was: the artist Marc Quinn, the children's author Kaye Umansky, Alistair Hicks, Deutsche Bank art advisor and curator, Alastair Smart, arts editor of The Sunday Telegraph, and Rebecca Wilson, director, Saatchi Gallery.
The Prize is part of the Saatchi Gallery's education programme, which is committed to introducing contemporary art to younger audiences.
More than 2,500 school groups have visited the new Saatchi Gallery since it opened in Chelsea in October 2008.
An exhibition of the 20 shortlisted entries is at the Saatchi Gallery, Duke of York's Sq, King's Road, London SW3 4SQ from 17-23 January 2012.
Information about entering the 2012 prize will be announced shortly.

The Prize Giving for the 2011 Sculpture at School Prize took place on the 22nd February at the Saatchi Gallery. Artist Tessa Farmer presented the award of £1000 to the winning school's art department with a further £250 given to the winning pupil. Two prizes of £100 were awarded to the pupils who were runners-up.
First place was awarded to Marcus Tyrrell, 13yrs, for King Charles III, 2011 at Cape Cornwall School, Marcus' art teacher is Amanda Beamish.
The runner-up prizes were awarded to Tomasz Kowalski, 15yrs for Head, 2011 at Anglo European School, Tomasz's art teacher is Dave Watson and Aidan Rymill, 5yrs for Christian the Lion, 2011, Aidan's art teacher is Nuria Pereira.
The sculptures will be featured in an exhibition in the Education Room on Level 2 of the Saatchi Gallery until April 15th.
The judging panel for this year's prize consisted of artists Rebecca Warren, Markus Selg, Zhivago Duncan and David Batchelor.
The Saatchi Gallery Sculpture at School Prize was launched in 2009 and is open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world who are invited to submit art work by students up to the age of 18. Over 1500 entries were submitted for the 2011 competition. The Sculpture Prize is part of the Saatchi Gallery's education programme, which is committed to introducing contemporary art to younger audiences.
