Photo Description:
Liv enjoys working with unconventional materials such as bones and dried insects to create new and exciting sculptures that evoke a macabre beauty found in museums such as the National History and Pitt River Museum. In this piece, she has used bones from birds and small animals to reconstruct fictional creatures encouraging the viewer to think about the role we play in the evolution of nature and the future we wish to construct. In this sense it is highly relevant to the current exhibition 'The Shape of Things to Come' and the possibilities of a future marked by mutation and physical/genetic modification.
