MAGPIE ON THE GALLOWS - a cautionary tale
| Photo Description: |
|
Approximately eleven foot tall sculpture based on the painting of the same name by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1568.
The magpie is constructed of found materials including surveillance type equipment. It sits atop an eight foot Gallows and makes reference to both the origional painting and the message that we are all in danger from electronic surveillance.
The gallows itself has, ironically, built in health and safety measures to avoid any accidents. It would in fact be impossible for anyone to hang themselves using this sculpture. |
