Mother Holding a Child

I was inspired by relationships that mothers and children have, how mothers have an instinct to love and protect their children, however, children do not want this protection and want to be free making their own choices in life. Henry Moores' sculptures really inspired me for the shape of the mother. I wanted the child to be symbolized as an egg. As eggs need a lot of attention and care from the mother. This was sharply juxtaposed with the sharp studs that where attached to the egg pointing outward, i wanted the effect to to symbolise how the child wants the freedom so much that it is willing to even hurt it's own mother to try and get this freedom.
