We are a comprehensive secondary specialist arts school situated in the London Borough of Bexley. Welling School has been a Specialist Visual Arts College
since September 2002. In recent years it has developed a
growing national reputation for being at the cutting edge of
contemporary practice in the teaching of art.
Being a Specialist Visual Arts College means many things. Of
course, the school has a large and well resourced Visual Arts
faculty, where students can study a broad range of specialist
disciplines. The school has its own gallery, The Berwick Road
Gallery, which hosts a varied programme of exhibitions
including Arts Council Touring shows and the alTURNERtive
Prize- the school’s own version of the Turner Prize.
Visual Arts play a pivotal role. At Welling School, we believe
in providing our students with a stimulating and creative
curriculum that embraces cross-curricular themes. Living in
a world which is becoming progressively more visual, our
students need to leave school equipped to deal with this
increasingly complex environment.
