Artwork Description:

'Time' is part of a series of photo's called 'Inner City Life' depicting the pressures of modern city living in the 21st century. As a photographer I primarily specialise in street photography and photojournalism, this means that my photographs are not staged. I find this has it benefits and disadvantages, the advantages are my ability to capture a real situation, with real emotions and reactions from real people reacting to their real environment. The downside being from the limited time I have to get the right shot means there is a higher chance of the shot being technically deficient in some way. I therefore need to think quick, concentrate and be in tune with my surroundings to be sure to get a shot that works. However, no matter how difficult shooting like this is I find the benefits outweigh the costs. In fact love the randomness and realism created from shooting in this way…you really can’t make it up! This shot is called ‘Time’, or in this case lack of it! Time is something we never seem to have enough of in modern big city living, this photo represents those pressures. The distant and fleeting nature of the subject represents the effect these pressures have on our ability to interact with each other. The shot is set within the beating heart of The City of London during a normal working weekday.
