Artwork Description:

Madrid is a city in a constant state of change and renovation - there are always 'obras' or roadworks and skips full of interesting things. I was looking for old doors to paint on when I came across these dusty old window-shutters which had a beautiful weathered colour and are very heavy (to keep out Madrid's winter cold). The portrait is of a close friend who dances flamenco and with whom I've spent many hours rehearsing.
