GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS ORGANISING THEIR DEGREE SHOW RIGHT NOW. Art is not ruled by the head or the heart, it is a rare moment when the rational and emotional cooperate to produce a message that speaks directly to the soul.
I have explored the use of painting, sculpture, installation and curation in my works to try to establish a connection between apparently disparate objects. Whilst this has all proved invaluable in understanding art history and my place within it, my best work is produced when I produce work intuitively. This is work that comes from the head and the heart and yet is controlled by neither, with order and chaos in perfect balance.
Now primarily a painter, I produce work that is heavily influenced by the idea that there is a point where everything just fits into place, a gestalt vision where form and balance speak to the audience directly. Subject matter ranges from the representational to the abstract as the only important issue is the painting itself.
I am continuing to explore how these romantic, modernist, holistic ideals can fit in a nihilistic, post-modern, multi-cultural society.

December 2006 - hypernarrative: an installation of paintings - questioning painting, subject matter, but mostly the spatial arrangement of information in the 21st century.
