我的简介 - Helen Dearnley
I work in a diverse range of mediums, exploring many issues within my work as both an artist and illustrator.
"The imaginary was the alibi of the real, in a world dominated by the reality principle. And, paradoxically, it is the real that has become our true utopia - but a utopia that is no longer in the realm of the possible, that can only be dreamt of as one would dream of a lost object." - Jean Baudrillard
Following on from previous animation work, my latest work reconstructs and continues a comic book narrative based around A-ha's 1986 music video Take On Me, in which the fictional realm of the iconic 1980s music video coincides with events contemporary to 2008.
This blog details the process of creating this work for my degree show:

Some images on here are of previous work: an installation I did for my Foundation at college 2005 entitled Perfectus Pupae et Hominis Cicatricosus
(Latin: Perfect Dolls and Scarred Human Beings.)
A doll related theme runs parallel to my other work. I'm currently working on a proposal for a series of dolls, which I hope will become a potential exhibition.
Also a few maquettes for a sculpture with reference to Antony Gormley - Literal Space 2005
