我的简介 - Anthea Moys
Play, action, dialogue, intervention and participation are themes resonate throughout m work. Performance, video and photography are the mediums which I use to portray my ideas. Through my work I intend to bring attention to performance art and how it can be used (through participatory play and games) to negotiate public space. I am interested in non-used useless spaces like the hole which I found at the train station (see image). I love working with people and creating games to be enacted in the public domain. I am interested in live participatory acts and phenomenon like Flash mobs, Permanent Breakfast and ‘transparadiso’ projects/organizations/happenings which are happening in urban spaces.
I am currently completing my Masters via dissertation at the University of the Witwatersrand. From November 2005 until July 2006 I took part in the MAPS project in Sierre, Switzerland. There I worked on many different projects with various people. I also participated in a walkshop which was held over 12 days in Marseilles, France led by Hendrik Sturm.
I am also an events organizer and have recently started the organization "Kazoo-it's a live art thing" with fellow performance artist Juliana Smith (US). This event focuses on performance art which utilizes public space through themes of play, action, intervention and participation.
Throughout the year I will hopefully be holding performance, play and public place workshops with students from various institutions. These will tie into the working methods of Kazoo 2. Watch this space as we will be sending out our call for proposals in the near future! At the moment Juliana Smith and myself are helping co-curate the Armed Response show with the Goethe Institut- which people can still send proposals for up until March 1st. More details can be found on www.goethe.de/johannesburg.
Also n May/June period I will be taking part in the project: KIN:BE:JOZI. A project which has travelled from Bern, to Kinshasa and will now take place in Johannesburg. Here I will work with artists from these regions in public space and work around the idea of dialogue.
I love to travel and work and play with different people from around the world. I also love to lie in the sun with my cats as well as go to yoga, and swim in the sea and dance all night to good music... ! I especially love to play... in all its many forms.
