Perhaps objects could be collected together and assembled as a means for trying to develop an understanding of them. This exploration may not always lead to any conclusion or discover any functions but without the instinctive human thirst for knowledge, we would never discover anything.
This piece has quite an ancient feel to it, and indeed some of it is...like the 400 year old fragment of human bone. But it is topped by a modern (but rusted ring pull which can't be dated earlier than the 1990s...so when is this piece from? It looks so old? I want to challenge the viewer into placing themselves and the object in time and space. In a sense...these are four dimensional sculptures.
