Wallbanger 2004.
Wallbanger is a kinetic sculpture using a standard bass drum pedal positioned at one end of a gallery wall. The pedal is motorised so that it hammers against the wall at a rate of approximately 96 beats per minute. The motor used is that of a super 8 projector which at times struggled to maintain a constant beat, producing an erratic beat pattern. The beats became an incessant soundtrack to the gallery and a constant for other pieces to work from.
