"Muted Score no. 1" 2004 is a wall drawing comprising of four wires drawn across thirty two violin bridges and tightened at either end by violin pegs and tail pieces. The piece implies that it could be played, carrying the characteristics of a musical instrument yet failing to function as one. The idea behind the work is to install elements that turn the gallery wall into a muted musical body incapable of producing sound, yet carrying a rhythmical visual element. It could be viewed as something somewhere between a muted instrument and musical stave. |
