The element of not knowing the outcome can be exciting and frightening when creating on site. The outcome is decided on the spot; therefore spontaneity plays a powerful role in this work. The site is just as important as the material used to create the work. I like to manipulate the actual site while creating within it. When the space and the material engage, the interactions between them become the artwork. When the space becomes occupied with the material, I want the viewer to take notice of their surroundings. I want the unnoticed to become visible. In my work the bond between what is there and what has been created becomes blurred. This allows the viewer to become a part of the artwork, to engage all of their senses in trying to distinguish between reality and fiction. Every crevice and crack in the wall has significance, and I want the viewer to leave the installation noticing their heightened awareness to their surroundings.
