Invasion was a site-specific installation at the Redoubt Fortress in Eastbourne. The work formed part of the Circumnavigation exhibition and artists were invited to propose work in response to the Fort’s architecture and history. The 24ft outside wall of the fort has a crack, which runs from the top of the wall to ground level. This break in the wall represents a crack in the fort’s defences and I was interested in the idea of filling it with organic-looking ‘invaders’. The installation was made of cocktail sticks, latex, colour, plasticine and linseed oil.
