How do we feel when shown something we do not expect? How do we deal with it? When faced with items we do not used to seeing with different uses, how are we to react to this? How other people react does this effect how we do?
Influenced by the concept of beauty and the grotesque. I am looking at the fine line between the two, and how the way a product is exhibited can change a persons opinion on the object.
Expressing in my own feminine contact, I work with he feeling of femininity. Trying t bring in my passion of craft into my work.
I take the product out of its natural environment and give it a different use making people question what they are looking at and question what there opinion is and what it should be.
The pieces I produce depend on the media I am using, although my main media is hair. Making the beauty in to the grotesque or the grotesque into beauty. It is the audience's unknown contribution of viewing the piece that decides if I have succeeded or not.
