I create bodies of work that incorporate theory as a means of introducing particular theories that I find engaging to larger audiences; I construct visual pieces that bridge the realms of the artistic and the intellectual. As of late, my work utilizes images circulating in american news media and recontextualizes those images to address issues of cultural context and positionality. Simply put, I am trying to create bodies of work that redesign the "war on terror" by playing with the (orientalist) epistemologies that undergird current representations of arabs, arab-americans, muslims vis-a-vis the rhetoric of "homeland security."
