And when I was born I came out of the womb clutching a pencil and a sketch pad, I’ve still got them somewhere. And although over the years my passion for drawing waned, my fervour for installation and sculpture flourished and my talent bloomed. Or so I’d hope to think.
And I don’t like to be tied down to subject matter or ways of thinking. So I threw all my string away. And although I don’t like to be tied down, I do find myself swimming through re-occurring themes, loosely based around: absence and presence, basic human emotions and creating an experience for the, sometimes unsuspecting, viewer. And I am concerned with creating mental acrobatics. I want your mind to summersault through a range of prerequisite emotions and actions. I want my work to trigger the laughter switch in your brain before your conscience and morality comes into play, and you quickly reel in that scoff that you oh so quickly spat out.
And my practice has never been capricious; every detail is picked over, (like a crisis has ensued.) Until everything is perfect, perfectly idiosyncratic
