Lee Edwards
Royal College Of Art, Painting
I am an artist currently living and working in London, where I've lived all my life, breathing in the smog and spitting out the smell of petrol. I love the incidental things in life; puddles holding the sky, weeds holding their own, walking the long way round deliberately to avoid the end in sight because it's more interesting, listening to particular words that Michael Stipe might be preaching to me on my walkman and watching people's facial expressions change after saying goodbye to a friend or lover and then realising the world is suddenly and violently around them alone. I graduated from the Royal College of Art (MA Painting) in 2005 and been involved in various group shows in London and Manchester. I've previously curated a group show at The Empire, Hackney, London in Oct 2006 entitled 'Silent but Violent' and took part in 'Artfutures 2007' at the Bloomberg Space. I work in a variety of different mediums (except film and video and especially drawing and painting). Most recent works are extremely intense etchings into the surface of photographs which will be shown in a solo show at Gimpel Fils, London, in the new year.
