Shasha Liu
California College Of The Arts, Curatorial Practice
Liu Shasha is a young female Chinese artist and curator based in Beijing and she currently works and studies in San Francisco Bay Area.
In Liu's Photography work, she is interested in the notions of self, migration, landscape, structure and order. She travels intensively into many rural areas in China from 2003 to 2005. After graduation from college in 2005, Liu moved from China to the United States to pursue her MA degree in Curatorial Practice at California College of the Arts. This period of travel and migration, triggered her thoughts on many concepts include personal transformation, imaginations of the "other" places, ideas of drifting and rooting, meanings of "new" and "change". Liu's work is a reflection of these ponderings.
