Just graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art: Painting and Drawing.
My work investigates the notion of ‘space’, in particular, it deals with themes of occupation and invasion, through using the medium of drawing. The drawings explore the idea of using traditional mediums for drawing, as well as testing out more unconventional drawing methods such as using wire, or a wall drawing made from paper circles, thus allowing the drawings to ‘exist beyond the page’. As stated by Emma Dexter (2006), a drawing is “a mark-making process used to produce a line-based composition”, (p.6). The drawings make geographic reference and in particular, look at the virus-like nature of urban settlements. The organic qualities of the drawings reflect the uncontrollable nature of urbanisation.
