Having just completed the four year degree in Fine Art at Reading and gaining a first I plan to move to Bristol to set up art projects within the community and continue to champion contemporary painting and further my practice alongside other rising artists. My work challenges the institution of its creation the work is both aware of, and in dialogue with, the environment it inhabits. With the focus on installment and display, my work explores the notions of ‘a painting’ and its paint: conscious of its own content and indeed its context within a space. By manipulating and exaggerating the sculptural forms inherent in painting, I provide boundaries and parameters for the paint to exploit, which can create a self awareness and energy within the space. By exploring and exploiting painting’s own materiality and history, it can inhabit and reassert its position within the contemporary sphere of the arts.
