My work addresses the negotiation of my childhood gender identity, and the uncomfortable discovery of myself as a male. Having four older sisters, there were activities that included them but not me, and I didn’t understand why. I couldn’t wear dresses, wear clips in my hair, use make up, go to the same toilets or play with the same toys. Through producing photographic montages composed of hundreds of images, I unravel my discovery as a sexual male through using my parents and myself in restaged moments in an awkward collision of adult and childhood fantasies.
