I'm a student of textiles, studying the traditional techniques of printing and weaving with a concentration on repeat pattern design. The majority of my education's focus has been on craft, however, for my thesis, I'm pushing those boundaries into installation of digitally printed video stills that document a series of epic dreams. The dreams unveil different stories, each involving a protagonist and me. The protagonist remains the same throughout the series, directing the development of an overarching plot. This protagonist holds within herself a force of nature so powerful that it can destroy everything that lies in its path. Like a tornado, this force sweeps everything away, revealing to me a glimpse of a moment when a comforting and peaceful energy radiates all around me yet consumes even the deepest pockets of my being…and then I wake up. There were six dreams all together, yet here in this body of work, we see four. These installations are separate, and the subject matter of each installation pertains to a specific dream. The thread that connects them all is a representation of the moment described above.
