| Ellen Espelund |
| |
|
Born in Oslo 1973
My main is portraits, black and white variations and ''old fashion'' photos. My focus is raw expressions, feelings and simplicity, and I often add that little tiny detail you never notice the first time. I also use symbolic things in a lot of my work. My prosess is similar to when I paint. The image is always created in my head long before I even use the camera. I also write alot. Mostly poems...

| About the Artist |
”Photography is for me to make on screen what I see, my ideas, my inner, the beauty and the expressive…” (Ellen, 2008)
I started photographing when I got my first camera at the age of 11. When I was 14, I had photography as a chosen subject for the whole year at school. I loved it! In my mind I knew I was going to explore the wonderful world of photography even further. But as many other things in life... Sometimes we have to make other choices, and I thought at that time that choosing to get a so called "normal" Bachelors-degree and having "normal" kind of jobs was what I had to do... The art world was "risky business" in many peoples eyes... But not to be happy with what you do in life is for me more risky. Life has taught me that. So I'm back where I left of somehow about 15-20 years ago..., though I have always photographed and written in my spare time of course... Now I divide my available working time between photographing and writing and other expressions. I also love exploring new things every single day...
From the first moment I started photographing as a young girl, it was people that interested me the most... The behind the surface..., was the most fascinating to me, and still are... I was also inspired by all the beautiful artphotos my parents had taken through years. I grew up loving art in general, as I still do... |
