| Curtis Santiago - Singer/Painter Throughout his time in Vancouver, Curtis has spent time his time painting when not performing or recording. This represents an overview of career highlights. His performances number in the hundreds over the last few years. Alongside Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, he has also been fortunate to receive mentorship from Martin Guderna, an amazing artist and instructor at Emily Carr as well as another Vancouver Artist Graeme Berglund. 2008 - Grace Gallery, Vancouver invitation to present Solo Show of works - Show scheduled to open July 18 2008 - The Cheaper Show no.8, Vancouver - one of 10 featured artists (chosen from the 130 artists showing) 2008 - Performances and Radio Interviews in New York to promote second album TKO 2008 - Interview and studio shoot for 24 Daily Newspaper featuring recent works 2007 - The Works Festival performer 2007 - Showcased Canadian Music Week, Toronto 2007 - Beginning of apprenticeship with renowned aboriginal artist, Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun in Vancouver 2006 - The Works Festival performer opening party 2006 - Produces Fashion Television segment showcasing 3 pairs of his painted PF Flyer Hi-tops in Vancouver 2007 - TKO album plays across Canada on College Radio Station 2006 - TKO album released 2005 - Traveled to the UK to perform with DJs Vinyl Ritchie, Ali B, and Krafty Kutz 2005 - Received $15,000 in FACTOR funding to promote TKO 2005 - Received $35,000 from FACTOR in funding for second solo album 2005 - 2nd trip to Holland to perform at GSUS clothing event 2005 - Guest host for BC Fashion Week features produced by Fashion Television 2005 - Performance in Quebec City for Dufour Productions 2004 - Attended non certificate painting classes at Emily Carr 2004 - Showcased Canadian Music Week, Toronto 2004 - Record 4 new songs with Pocket Dwellers DJ and producer Sheldon Moore in Toronto 2004 - Trip to Holland to perform at GSUS spring launch event 2004 - Received $15,000 in Marketing funding from FACTOR to promote Portrait of an Artist 2004 - Traveled to the UK to perform with DJs Vinyl Ritchie, Ali B, and Krafty Kutz 2004 - Traveled to the Cayman Islands with DJ Vinyl Ritchie 2003 - Released first solo album, Portrait of an Artist 2003 - Performed at Shambalah with DJ Vinyl Ritchie in Nelson, BC 2003 - Awarded the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award at New Music West 2003 - Showcased at New Music West, Vancouver 2003 - Received $3500 in FACTOR grant for Showcase in Regina 2003 - Showcased at Western Canadian Music Awards, Regina 2003 - Received $25,000 from FACTOR to fund first solo album, Portrait of an Artist 2002 - Embarked on a solo career apart from Edmonton based band The Hi-Phoniqs 2002 - Moved to Vancouver from Edmonton to pursue a career in music and painting 1998 - 2002 - lead singer for The Hi-Phoniqs, Edmonton |
