Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, I have been an art educator in public schools in Iowa and Minnesota for over 30 years and currently teach in central Minnesota. I have earned a MA in painting and photography and throughout my teaching career, I have continued to produce art in my home studio and have exhibited my work. |

After receiving my MA, I began to focus my work away from painting and to graphite drawings. My previous work in both painting and photography led to personal investigation into exploring drawing as an artistic statement in and of itself. I have approached drawing in a painterly manner using values, shapes, and texture to define my imagery rather than the more frequently seen linear emphasis. When the subject lends itself to color usage, I subtly inject color with colored pencil. Most of my drawings reveal a preference for a photorealistic style. Note: All images on this site are graphite pencil drawings, some which include color pencil work. |
