Matthew Coleman

About the Artist

I create from the inside out. To direct the intensity of feeling outside of me, to release them in great bursts. Each new surface I create on is like wet cement, where an impression of a moment can be left frozen, suspended in time

'The Heart's Dichotomy as embodied and translated by the artist Matthew Coleman. Time is kept still within the body of texture. Emotions speak through pigment...'

THE CRY OF A THOUSAND CRANES
To mark the 21st of September 2009, International Day of Peace, Saatchi True Blue are very proud to present The Cry of a Thousand Cranes, an installation by artist Matthew Coleman. Cranes are the Japanese symbol of peace, and the work, inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki*, promotes the support of individuals, nations and governments in their efforts to end conflict and promote peace. Saatchi Blue is a worldwide arm of Saatchi & Saatchi dedicated to making their work, and the work of their clients, more sustainable. 21-27 September, Saatchi & Saatchi. Reception Windows, 80 Charlotte Street. London W1A 1AQ. (*http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadako_Sasaki)
