In all my work, I am interested in the dynamic vibration created when human activity and nature intersect. I think of this intersection as “the garden”, in the most expansive sense. In painting and in outdoor installations, I am drawn to the concept of a reassembled landscape where meaning is re-formed. I am interested in the space between formal ideas within human activity and tendencies of disorder in nature. When painting, I live in the abstracted places where the impulses of both nature and humans coexist. Outdoor installations in public spaces are opportunities where I can expand a vision of the garden and invoke our culture’s relationship to nature. |

| Creating an atmosphere of imagery in a floating landscape, this piece allows one to walk into a concept of “the garden”. A painted poly-rhythmic grid of large and small dots with an overlay of falling leaves is produced on layered sheets of mylar. “Untitled Veil” continues my exploration into the dynamic tension when Nature’s order intersects the logical mind. |
