| About the Artist |
The work of George Debo calls to mind the soft and subtle works of John Marin and Charles Burchfield as well as the canvases of our own American Impressionist School of the early years of the 20th century. He brings to the eye of the viewer an awareness of the importance of technique. This coequal treatment of subject and technique--of nature, paint and surface--combine to create an expressive and tactile image which goes beyond the scenes of nature and becomes a vision of nature transformed.
George Debo is a trained painter in all media and has studied with the prominent artist/instructors Hugo Weber and Hobson Pittman. In addition to founding his own design company and his experience as an instructor of the visual arts, Mr. Debo is very involved in the collection of art and artifacts of americana. His rich and impressionistic renderings of the Pennsylvania landscape reflect his understanding of the delicate balance between love of nature and the creative process. |
