human beings have a bizarre Obsession with organising the world they inhabit, they have different modes of organisation. i believe this is a result of a deep routed survival technique, where if you organise your inviroment, you have a greater control of it. many species do this also, but not to the extent that we do. this obsession is heightened by the institutions we have developed around us, whether prisons, academic institutions, or governmental. i believe one of the drives in making art is this will to organise. we organise sound to make music, we organise colors and forms to make painting and we organise people to see art. the question i came to though, was if we have such a deep obsession to organise and re-create the world, what does this world look like through a distorted lens, and if the world has become a mere extention of ourselves, how do we appear through that same lens. |
