Jane Sun was born in Taiwan; went to US for graduate school; took a career as a software engineer and gradually found an outlet for her reverence for life, nature and beauty in painting. |
| About the Artist | |
For Jane, the combination of expressing beauty through painting and helping the preservation of threatened wilderness and species is a fulfilling mission. She hopes that through her paintings, she can share the serenity and awe in nature that she treasures. "As good literature reveals visually to the readers through the author’s vivid description, I would like my paintings to convey the feel of warm sun, cool mist, the smell of wild sage, or the sound of a laughing creek within the pleasure of the sight." |

| Education and biography | |
| Since her first one-woman show in 2003, Jane Sun, has been active in the art world. A member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, Santa Barbara Visual Arts, and SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting the Environment), she is an award winning artist with her works appearing on show invitations and in celebrated events including the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum's Annual ArtWalk. She has been a featured artist at the Corridan Gallery, Gallery 113 and Palm Loft Gallery; and in the coming year she will be a featured artist at Divine Inspiration Gallery and will have yet another solo show in Santa Barbara. Her latest love is capturing the light and the moment in plein air paintings. Inspired by the Impressionists and the local Oak Group artists, her mentors and teachers include Marcia Burtt, Rick Schloss, Glenna Hartmann, Michael Drury, Tom Van Stein and Chris Chapman. |
