While much of Kathi's photography comprises a realistic depiction of the southern coast of Rhode Island, where she lives, none of her images strays far from her early work in oils and watercolors. Indeed, her images of the farms and vernacular architecture of coastal New England have often been called "painterly" in their composition and use of color. Lately, she has reclaimed two other earlier media -- collage and textile art -- using her photographic images and digital editing software as her scissors and paste to create works of fantasy, intense graphic design and a kind of abstract realism. Her abiding attraction for surface design is evident in these photographic collages, in which the repetition of often only one primary image underscores the organic geometry of the original in ways which bring a hyper-reality to the viewer's experience of the subject. |

| This photo collage began with one image of a red sunset over sand dunes. With repetition, the addition of other photo elements, and digital manipulation, it became a "faux" sunset reflected in a non-existent pond. The various elements of the whole suggest a play on the meaning of flight, depth, and space. |

| In her twenties, Kathi studied painting at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. In recent years, she has been studying design and image-making software at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence.
