| About the Artist |
Photography continues to be an inspiration for each of her latest works, from how she begins her pieces, to how she chooses to frame them. A "mirror" of her "ordinary life", her subjects focus on scenes from her daily life, such as her husband's wedding ring on the dresser table, or the pigeon that crossed her path on the way to work. These scenes are often rendered in standard photo sizes, such as 5x7 inches, and then framed similarly to photographs, with white mattes and metal frames.
"I treat them like photos because they're snapshots from my life. They're subjects that I value. For this reason, I like the intimacy of small sizes," she says. "A huge painting is often overwhelming, and my life isn't like that. It's quiet, simple... And I love it when people have to get close to my work to really see it."
Megan Wolfe continues to work and reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. |
