Performance No 1: It's all been done before

2009
performative installation
variable

A performance and installation (documented with film and photographs) involving making playdough from scratch in the performance space, kneading dough, mixing colours, while dressed as a be-wigged blonde housewife, in black patent leather doc marten boots. The playdough was then thrown, baseball-like, at the wall-- splat! Then a suitcase in the space was opened: full of dolls (barbies). One by one, each doll was beheaded, the body dropped to the floor and stomped on until-- crack! Then it's head was placed upon a yellow pencil from a pencil jar and inserted into a framed grid on the opposite wall. The floor was littered with broken doll bodies and the grid was filled with a design made from the dolls' hair. (Photo by June Singhkaew)
