Born Birmingham, UK, 1976.
I am an interdisciplinary artist who frequently uses lens-based media, sound and installation to explore modes of theatre, authenticity and interpretation.
In addition, I frequently work site-specifically, undertaking residencies to focus research into the interpretation of social and natural history.
As a writer and supporter of artist-led culture, I am co-founder of Periscope (Birmingham artists project space), an editor for Midwest artists' website and a video journalist for the BBC.

| 关于此艺术家 |
I produce photographic prints, installations and projections that explore links with and creation of history. By combining references to photography and historic painting with exaggerated artificial scenes, I make works that play with the slippage between old and new, fact and fiction.
My key theoretical concern is the impossibility of (and tantalising yearn for) records of place, time and experience. My work references exploring, collecting and classifying and combines these with abstracting references to theatre and artifice. I use allusions to Realist painting, tableau and documentary video to explore what could be described as the unconscious of the museum.
I also use 'tamed' elements in the work, sometimes represented by nature, animals or children. How we order, organise and make sense of our past, our current situation and our future is at the heart of the work I produce. |
