About the Artist

I enjoy painting from nature and also using my imagination.I like painting window views which combine symbolically the interior life and the outer world.I love Italy and the renaissance. Artists I admire are Piero della Francesca, Morandi,Balthus, Gwen John ,Turner,Samuel Palmer and Odelon Redon.

Ricmond,The Still Pond with azaleas

I made eight visits to paint the pond in the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park walking 2 miles each way across the park. The azaleas reflected in the pond in April and May are beautiful.

Thamesview with geraniums and the obelisk near Teddington Lock

I painted this view from my window soon after moving from North London to my riverside flat near Twickenham. The obelisk opposite marks the end the Thames tide. Rubble from London war bombed buildings is buried in the land opposite and is now a flourishing nature reserve.

I painted this about a mile from the house where i stayed i could see the beautiful poplars from my kitchen window

I painted this watercolour on the spot over several weeks I saw blue and orange bee-eaters flying over the valley as i worked The villagers bought prints of my painting when I showed it in the village shop

I exhibited this painting in the 1998 Royal Academy Summer Show where it was sold I painted it from the kitchen of an apartment in the Tuscan countryside between Pisa and Florence I loved the view with the pink house on the hillside and the golden poplars and olives beyond I liked the shutters and reflections in the windows The the virginia creepers perfectly complimented the view and white acacia blossom edged the windows

Thamesview with the obelisk ,heron and concorde Twickenham

I painted this small oil from my window opposite the obelisk on the Thames riverside in the flat where I live at Twickenham The trees are part of a Ham nature reserve below which is buried rubble from ww2 bombed London houses.The obelisk marks the end of the tidal Thames. I used to love seeing concorde fly over Twickenham and miss seeing its bird like white shape zooming by. This painting is in the Royal Academy Summer Show 2009
