Michael Streun’s paintings emerge mainly in oil and acrylic on wood or canvas. The works are nothing more than creations of painting, something which repeatedly takes place in nature and in our immediate surroundings. Human beings and nature are the main points of focus in Streun’s current work. He generally paints from sitting models or intermedially using digital pictures which have been adapted on a computer. The sternness and severity which often seems to be headmost in a painting is actually the artist’s view of that person, just as they are as seen through his eyes. The essence of a person’s character, the interior of an individual’s personality appear and become an integral part of the canvas.
