Sterzenbach is a painter who creates self-willed dream figures (men, animals, sculptures, rock formations, etc.). Strange and bewitched creatures come into existence, which defy description. Theese magical, surrealistic images have a suggestive effect on the spectator. Sterzenbach about his practice: "I don´t know theese creatures, before I see them appearing on paper or canvas. I am often surprised about my own creations. By different techniques like frottage, decalcomany, imprimitation etc. structures come into existence, which Sterzenbach assembles into fantasy figures, without having an exact imagination of what is emerging. Little faces and forms, which Sterzenbach inserts finally in the coarse structures, increase the dreamlike surrealistic radiation of the pictures. You may not try to understand or conceive. It is quite a different world where you have to engage in as a spectator. |

| Jewish Community Center in Berlin-Charlottenburg. This monument was distructed several times - at least finally by the stub after the Second World War. Before by bombs and during the Nazisme by organized arson in the "Reichskristallnacht". Today the Jewish Community of Berlin has his seat here. |

| View from the Kreuzberg in direction of Berlin-Mitte (City). In front: St. Bonifazius Church. In the background: the press-center of Axel Springer, television tower etc. The television tower was constructed after the idea of Hermann Henselmanns 1965 - 1969 and built by the collective Günter Kollmann. His height is 365 m and so the highest monument in Berlin. From a 205-m high outlook-platform you have a nice look over Berlin with a distance of 40 km. The restaurant on the top is turning round every half an hour. |

| From the series of "Visual Universes". A herd of horses rushes in full gallopp in the direction of the viewer of the picture, up-frightened by twitching, white lightning jets, discharged from an object sliding over the horses, which looks like a space station.
My intent was to show a group of galopping horses which are afraid of the space stations above here heads. The personal background of representing horses in my pictures is my fascination of horses - my wife has a horse since long time and I tried to learn riding for one year until I was dropped down from a horse when I was riding in Umbria in Italy. I got broken three ribs what was very painful. Since this time I stopped riding. The idea of the space stations I got by the collage material I had for disposition. |

Influenced by his parents (mother: musician, father: painter, teacher) 1958 - 1961 Apprenticeship as an electrician in a paper factory; 1961 - 1963 Technician /Electrotechnician ; 1963 - 1966 Engineer-studies in Cologne with Master`s degree in engineering, Cologne 1966 - 1969 Working as an electric engineer in Paris. In free time painting of landscapes in oil on canvas and drawings of "Paris types" 1969 - 1972 Commercial and Technical manager in Berlin; 1972 Product manager in Düsseldorf; 1972 - 1976 Art- and Pedagogical studies at Pedagogic High School in Berlin (PH, now HdK) with second degree of state; 1976 - 1998 Probationer, Professorship of French language; 1980 - 1998 Living and working as teacher (Art and French) on the island Scharfenberg on Tegel Lake, Berlin.
