The image has been cut into a board, which is then shellached to seal the cuts. The image is then rubbed onto Rives print paper with pastel. Once the image is clearly "marked" onto the paper; the process of "whatever goes" is then applied via pastel, oil, acrylic, pen and ink. In this case I stayed within traditional boundaries and chose to illustrate the beauty of this musical instrument, rather than abstract it. Using this technique gives me the ability to have a "structure" or reference to then move into or out of, depending on mood, temperment, sensibility, etc. |
