Lisa Mei Ling Fong
Eerie Art
born 1974, San Francisco
I’ve had the fortunate experience to travel extensively for the past three decades. My mother was a travel agent for 25 years and we became great traveling companions. So far I have visited twenty-four countries. This allows me to see that the world has stories to tell and that it should be seen. I started to document my travels with various forms of artistic media, including photography, drawing, painting, collages, video and writing.
While sitting in one of many situations such as in a church pew, inside a castle, or the middle of a walled city, I am usually armed with a journal, pens, a glue-stick, two cameras and plastic bags to collect nature. It is my intention to document as much of my life as possible; to hold on to memories before they slip away.
For a long time I have had the interest to pursue theatrical set design, which spurred my desire to create shadow boxes. I call them “Introversion Boxes” because within this medium, I am allowed to ponder a themed world; to recreate past lives and to make statements of my own life. These boxes include elements from all of my international travels and the countless donations from family and friends. I want to preserve a part of the past that will naturally fade through time. My Introversion Boxes are celebrations of Life, by celebrating Death.

| 关于此艺术家 |
My artwork is my journal entry: a personal note on the efforts of my life, which inevitably moves towards a timeline that is terminal. Death is what reminds me to live - not as an empty and floating being, but as a temporary creature that can touch all of what is around me.
I assemble and arrange my personal collections of relics in "Introversion Boxes" to create sentimental memorials of the past. By composing themes that are real or imagined, I am continually developing the importance of what memory is and to respect our fleeting existence.
